CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — The committee that will decide on the curriculum for the University of Illinois' new medical school will include the former chancellor at the Urbana-Champaign campus who resigned under pressure.
Phyllis Wise is one of the 18 people who will decide what students will study at the campus' Carle Illinois College of Medicine.
Wise resigned in August just before the university announced she and others had talked about university business such as the new medical school via personal email accounts to try to avoid public scrutiny. But she remains a professor of molecular and integrative physiology.
Wise told The News-Gazette in Champaign (http://bit.ly/1lMyju6 ) that she's gratified to be part of the committee after leading the push to create the new engineering-based medical school.
