WASHINGTON (AP) — A court-martial is the next step in the military's case against Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The Idaho soldier was held captive by the Taliban for five years and freed in a controversial exchange for five detainees in Guantanamo Bay. The Army said yesterday a date for an arraignment hearing at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, will be announced later.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former prisoner who was released last year after being convicted in a violent roadside attack is facing new criminal charges in Boise. KTVB-TV reports Sarah Pearce of Homedale has been charged with introduction of contraband into a jail and drug possession. She previously spent 11 years in prison for the 2000 attack of Linda Lebrane.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — State health officials have reported the first death from influenza in Idaho this season. The Department of Health and Welfare says a northern Idaho woman died within the last week. She was over the age of 60. Her name was not released. Last season, 32 people died from flu-related illnesses in Idaho.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The eagles are back on Lake Coeur d'Alene. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the BLM counted 126 birds at the lake Thursday, compared to just 34 at this time last year and 86 in 2013. The BLM says the birds are attracted to the lake by abundant salmon and mild weather.
