COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A visiting scholar from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland is addressing whether virtue and positive psychology are the cornerstones of a happy life.

Philosophy and ethics professor John Haldane speaks Monday at in the University of South Carolina's law school auditorium.

The evening address is free and open to the public.

The lecture is part of a new research project by University of South Carolina professors Jennifer Frey and Candace Vogler bringing scholars from around the world to talk about the meaning of life and society.

The project is funded by a $2 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation.
