BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Planned Parenthood has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn two recently passed Idaho laws that ban women from receiving abortion-inducing medication through telemedicine. Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest filed a lawsuit saying that the laws, signed by Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter this year, create an undue burden on women seeking abortions.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Wireless automatic water meters are coming to Lewiston as the City Council has approved a contract for the equipment. The Lewiston Tribune reports that the council unanimously approved a contract with Ferguson Enterprises. Installation of the meters and infrastructure will begin in the next few months, and it is expected to take more than two years before every customer has a meter. Critics of the meters have said they encroach on residents' privacy.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The City Council has approved the appointment of Nampa police Chief Craig Kingsbury as head of the Twin Falls police force. The Times-News reports Kingsbury is resigning from the Nampa department Dec. 17. Kingsbury replaces Capt. Bryan Krear, who was appointed interim chief when Brian Pike was promoted to deputy city manager for public safety almost a year ago. Krear plans to retire at the end of this year.

COUNCIL, Idaho (AP) — Idaho officials are seeking information about the illegal killing of a bull elk that had its head and antlers removed with the body left to rot. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says the headless elk was discovered Sunday and was likely killed on Nov. 25 or 26. That's weeks after the bull elk hunting season ended.
