SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say the Salt Lake County jail lockdown has lifted after two officers and a nurse were attacked by prisoners during the holiday weekend.

Normal operations resumed 7 a.m. Monday after the Metro Jail was first closed about 2 a.m. Friday.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Cammie Skogg said a prisoner hit an officer in the head and neck. The officer was taken to a hospital to be checked out for bruises and was released.

Two more incidents happened Saturday. A prisoner pushed back against a nurse giving out medications, hitting her hand. Another prisoner spit on an officer.

Those injuries didn't require treatment and the attacks appear to be random.

The jail said the lockdown stopped non-essential prisoner programs, including visitation, phone calls and recreational activities.
