LE BOURGET, France (AP) — One-hundred-and-51 world leaders have kicked off two weeks of high-stakes climate talks outside Paris. Addressing the twin threats of global warming and extremist violence, the leaders say that by striking a deal to cut greenhouse emissions, they can show terrorists what countries can do when they stand together.

LE BOURGET, France (AP) — World leaders at the climate conference have held a moment of silence in honor of people killed in recent attacks in Paris, Beirut, Baghdad, Tunisia and Mali. Some leaders have visited the sites of the deadly Nov. 13 attacks in Paris. President Barack Obama laid a flower at a concert hall where dozens were killed.

CHICAGO (AP) — One of the nation's top universities has called off classes on the first day students are due back from Thanksgiving holiday because of an online threat. The University of Chicago says all classes and activities are canceled for today after the FBI passed along a threat of gun violence on the campus quad.

BALTIMORE (AP) — The first trial in the death of Freddie Gray gets underway in Baltimore today. Gray was a 25-year-old black man who was critically injured in the back of a police transport van. Officer William Porter is accused of checking on Gray several times but not getting him any help. Six officers have been indicted in the case.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Police in Lincoln, Nebraska, say two of their officers were wounded and a man fatally shot during a confrontation Sunday evening. Neither injury is described as life-threatening. A police statement says the confrontation happened when officers responded to a report of suspicious activity.
