MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) — A movie theater near Boise was evacuated after a water main broke this weekend.

KTVB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1R0Gb6P ) that Meridian Fire Department Battalion Chief Ken Welborn says a water main broke in an upstairs bathroom at Village Cinema on Sunday and water was cascading down to the lower level of the theater within minutes.

He says firefighters helped staff leave the building and steer clear of standing water to avoid becoming a conduit.

Karisa Day says she was watching the new Hunger Games movie with her husband when the evacuation began. She says they couldn't go down the normal stairs because water was coming over the balcony "like a waterfall."

Village Cinema says it will reopen Monday morning and issue credits to those evacuated because of the flooding.
