NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Authorities say a Tulane University medical student has been shot in the abdomen while trying to stop a robbery in New Orleans.
The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1la6eMs ) that the student, 25-year-old Peter Gold, was in intensive care at University Medical Center.
WVUE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1la6B9P ) the shooting happened before dawn Friday, and a nearby business caught the shooting on camera.
Footage shows a man in a hooded shirt dragging a woman down a street. She falls and the man takes her purse. The man later identified as Gold stops to help the woman, and man in the hooded shirt pulls out a gun and shoots Gold.
Police were looking for a suspect.
