COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — An Arizona man charged with shooting at 12 northern Idaho police officers on Interstate 90 last year has been sentenced to 45 years in prison. Prosecutors say 25-year-old Marcus Rael used a semi-automatic AK-47 rifle to fire at officers during the pursuit.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former Idaho man is trying to convince the state of Pennsylvania that he should be allowed to own a gun, and the issue has brought him back west to argue his case in Idaho Supreme Court. The Spokesman-Review reports that Todd Rich is challenging the dismissal of a suit he brought seeking the right to own a gun in Idaho despite a 1992 rape conviction.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Two boys are hospitalized after being struck by an SUV in Boise. KTVB-TV reports that the children were walking to school this morning when they were hit in a crosswalk. Boise police say ice on the windshield likely obscured the vision of the driver. Police say their injuries are not life-threatening.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — More than 20,000 high school seniors received good news this year with acceptance letters to Idaho's public colleges and universities as part of the state's new admissions program. The Times-News reports students meeting certain grade and test score requirements are automatically accepted at Idaho's eight public institutions.
