LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada jury says a 29-year-old self-styled pimp should be sentenced to death for killing three people in a shooting and fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip. Ammar Harris was not in the courtroom when family members of the victims sobbed after the verdict was read yesterday in Clark County District Court. The jury deliberated about two hours after a two-day penalty hearing that Harris didn't attend.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. (AP) — Lander County authorities are investigating the apparent suicide of a 59-year-old man who shot himself in the emergency room lobby of a Battle Mountain hospital. Lander County Undersheriff Robert Quick says deputies responded to a report of gunfire at the Battle Mountain General Hospital. Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the deputies arrived.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The nearly built but never finished Fontainebleau casino-hotel high-rise is getting covered up to spruce up the view on the Las Vegas Strip. A Clark County commissioner turned a relatively routine request for an off-site improvement bond extension to compel the property's owner to cover up the unsightly construction that's been visible for several years.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A bottlenose dolphin inside The Mirage casino-hotel on the Las Vegas Strip has died. MGM Resorts International says an Illinois lab was working to determine why a 12-year-old male dolphin named "Beetle" died the morning of Oct. 27 in Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. An MGM Resorts spokeswoman says 10 dolphins have died since The Mirage opened in 1989.
