SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A city council candidate hoping to become Utah's first openly transgender elected official has conceded the race in suburban Salt Lake City. Yesterday's unofficial election results show 50-year-old Sophia Hawes-Tingey took 42 percent of the votes in her bid for Midvale's 2nd District. Hawes-Tingey says that while there are still uncounted ballots, there aren't enough to give her a win. She was defeated by incumbent Paul Glover, who won 58 percent of the vote.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A state legislator is proposing adding one more must-have app for our ubiquitous smart phones: A program that would contain a person's electronic driver's license. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that West Valley City Republican Rep. Craig Hall is working on legislation that would allow the state to issue licenses on apps for those who want them. They could be used instead of or in addition to the traditional plastic cards.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake County has a new city after voters in Millcreek township decided to form their own government. Unofficial results show 66 percent of people voted in favor of Millcreek city, which will have a population of nearly 62,500 people, making it one of the larger cities in Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The National Weather Service says the mountains of southern Utah could see up to four inches of snow, and the Salt Lake Valley is also getting a dusting. A forecaster says the snow started falling late last night on the Pine Valley mountains near St. George, and the higher elevations in the central part of the state near Cedar City also got about two inches of snow.
