ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Russia has started bringing home the bodies of the victims from the passenger plane crash in Egypt. A government plane brought the bodies of 144 passengers to St. Petersburg's Pulkovo airport early Monday. The Metrojet plane crashed in the Sinai Peninsula Saturday morning, 23 minutes after taking off from the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh en route to St. Petersburg. All 224 people on board were killed. Many of the passengers were Russian.
MIAMI (AP) — The National Transportation Safety Board says the U.S. cargo ship that sank east of the Bahamas during Hurricane Joaquin appears to have landed upright on the ocean floor. Investigators are going by sonar, so they're still awaiting confirmation that wreckage found Saturday in 15,000 feet of water is El Faro, which went missing Oct. 1 with 33 crewmembers on board.
NEW YORK (AP) —They're celebrating in Kansas City. The Royals have won the World Series for the first time since 1985, beating the New York Mets 7-2 in Game 5. Both teams went at it Sunday night for 12 innings, in a game that lasted past midnight.
CHICAGO (AP) — A new study suggests that many teens who are sexually assaulted don't receive the recommended emergency room tests and prevention treatments for pregnancy and venereal disease. Testing and treatment rates varied widely among the 38 children's hospitals studied, from zero teens treated to almost 90 percent tested. The study's authors say based on the data between 2004 and 2013, there needs to be better awareness of testing and treatment guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
SEATTLE (AP) — Health officials are expecting the number of people sickened by an E. coli outbreak linked to Chipotle restaurants in Washington state and Oregon to grow. As of Friday, three people in the Portland area and 19 people in western Washington had gotten sick from E. coli. Seventeen of them had recently eaten at a Chipotle restaurant. Eight people have been hospitalized but no deaths have been reported.
