CABOT, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say four people were killed in north-central Arkansas when the car they were riding in ran off a roadway and eventually struck a tree.
A preliminary Arkansas State Police crash report says the accident happened Saturday at 10:40 p.m.
The report says the Jeep ran off a road in White County, and the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to hit a guardrail and then a tree.
Twenty-year-old Alexandria Simpkins and 19-year-old Codi Rice, both of Cabot, Arkansas, were killed. Two minors also died; they weren't immediately identified.
The Cabot Public School District said in a statement that all four victims were former or current students at Cabot High School. The district will provide counseling for students.
The report says conditions were wet and foggy at the time.
