RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Wildlife Commission is again considering a ban on coyote-hunting contests. The Reno-Gazette Journal reports animal advocates filed their newest petition with the commission following a previous denial in March. Some members of the commission called the original submission flawed. Coyotes can be hunted in Nevada without a license or permit. Contests offer rewards to those who kill the highest number of the predators.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say one person has died and several others were injured after a drunk driver ran through a red light. Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. yesterday near Lake Mead Boulevard and Mount Hood Street. Police say a driver traveled at a high speed through a traffic light and caused a crash that involved four vehicles. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man who was killed after a vehicle crashed and caught fire in Las Vegas has been identified. KSNV-TV reports the Clark County coroner's office says 33-year-old Roger Luna, of Las Vegas, died Friday at 6:50 a.m. after his car struck an Interstate 15 bridge support. Authorities say Luna's vehicle crashed while driving on a curve near Oakey and Western. A fire erupted after the crash and Luna had to be extricated from the car.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a man found stabbed to death in a west Las Vegas parking lot. KSNV-TV reported yesterday that the Clark County coroner's office says 33-year-old Kristopher Schneider died of a stab wound to the chest and that his death was a homicide. According to Las Vegas police, Schneider was stabbed in a shopping center parking lot Wednesday just before 6:30 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
