SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's Prison Development Commission is hiring consultants to help manage the move to a new $550 million state prison in Salt Lake City. The Deseret news reports commission members say they want input on the project from professionals who have completed similar projects.
PHOENIX (AP) — A judge presiding over a civil rights lawsuit against polygamous towns on the Arizona-Utah line has ruled federal authorities can offer evidence at an upcoming trial about polygamy and underage marriage. The U.S. Justice Department alleges that both communities served as an arm of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Airport officials in Oregon says a Delta flight to Salt Lake City returned to Portland International Airport after experiencing engine trouble. Flight 1881 landed safely about an hour and 20 minutes after takeoff this morning. A Delta spokesman tells KGW-TV that the pilots decided to return after receiving an indication that there was a problem with one of the plane's two engines.
PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Police are investigating the theft of about $50,000 worth of furs from a shop in Park City. Police say the merchandise was stolen around 3:30 a.m. last Thursday from Alaska Fur Gallery on Main Street. They are looking for a male suspect and a female getaway driver.
