TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Two former Tampa police detectives turned themselves in Wednesday to face tax fraud charges, a day after an indictment alleged thousands of dollars in fraudulent tax refunds were used to pay credit card and other bills of the married couple.
The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/1S9qOHS ) reports that Eric and LaJoyce Houston faced a scheduled afternoon arraignment, hours after reporting to U.S. Marshals.
In an indictment Tuesday, authorities laid out in court documents what they say was evidence of tax refund fraud being committed by a close circle of former Tampa police employees.
Details of the investigation also were contained in a search warrant affidavit filed in May, which said evidence suggested personal information was taken from homicide victims and police databases.
It wasn't immediately known if the Houstons had an attorney.
