THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Dutch Queen Maxima is being flown home early from a state visit to China because she is suffering from a kidney infection.
The Dutch Royal House announced Tuesday that 44-year-old Maxima, wife of King Willem-Alexander, has been taking medication for the infection, but symptoms including a fever and back pain have not subsided.
Argentinian-born Maxima will be admitted to a hospital in The Hague for further tests as soon as she arrives in the Netherlands.
King Willem-Alexander is remaining in China to continue his state visit.
