LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Lansing Community College plans a new Veteran's Resource Center as part of an upcoming downtown campus renovation project.
The Lansing State Journal reports (http://on.lsj.com/1PRtxq2 ) the roughly $6 million project would turn a building LCC already owns into a space to accommodate LCC students who are military veterans. Plans call for completing the project by mid-2019.
LCC President Brent Knight says the proposal will expand the college's robust offerings for veterans. He says: "Veterans have served our nation and we think we need to do all we might helping them prosper in civilian life."
The college is an institutional partner in the Michigan Veterans Education Initiative, which aims to serve between 30,000 and 50,000 veterans returning to the state in the next five years.
