COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The University of South Carolina is offering a free opportunity for kids to start thinking scientifically.

On Saturday, the USC Children's Center and the College of Education are inviting families to an annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Fair.

The free event starts at 9 a.m. and runs through noon at the Children's Center on Wheat Street in Columbia.

It features hands-on activities for parents and children including an egg drop, an outdoor nature garden, a Paleopuzzle where children can dig for "dinosaur fossils" and a fire safety simulation.
