LAS VEGAS (AP) — The off-Strip casino-hotel chain Station Casinos that caters to Las Vegas locals is going public, again. The company says it plans to make a public stock offering and use some of the money it raises to buy out a related management company for $460 million in cash. The company has been on the upswing since filing for bankruptcy in mid-2009, emerging two years later with less debt.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Lamar Odom's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, says the former NBA star made "incredible strides" at a Las Vegas hospital after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel. Kardashian posted a message to her website today thanking the doctors and nurses at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Treasurer's Office is announcing plans to start disbursing money through Education Savings Accounts in February - two months earlier than scheduled. The change is pending lawmaker approval tomorrow. Nevada lawmakers passed a bill on party lines this spring creating the accounts, which allow parents to claim most of their child's per-pupil state education funding and use it toward private school or other qualified expenses. Two pending lawsuits seek to halt the program.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Visitors flying into Las Vegas can soon hail an Uber or Lyft to reach the Strip's glittering casino-resorts. Clark County commissioners voted unanimously today to grant temporary business licenses needed for temporary operating permits at the county-run McCarran International Airport. The airport plans to charge the companies $2.45 per pickup and drop-off.
