LAS VEGAS (AP) — Lamar Odom's family says this morning that his condition is improving after the former NBA star was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel a week ago. A publicist for Odom's aunt JaNean Mercer says the former reality-TV personality is alert and undergoing testing, but there's no word yet on when he might be released from the hospital.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal officials have dedicated a sprawling new national monument in southern Nevada. U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Bureau of Land Management Director Neil Kornze joined Sen. Harry Reid, Congresswoman Dina Titus and local officials for the ceremony Saturday at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas. President Barack Obama in July designated about 1,100 square miles of rangeland and mountains in Nye and Lincoln counties as Basin and Range National Monument.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a woman arrested in Louisiana described suffocating a 71-year-old Las Vegas neighbor with a trash bag and stuffing her corpse in a duffel bag before her boyfriend hid it in an underground utility vault. Veronica Houck told Las Vegas police that as they were disposing of Young Suk Sanchez's body, boyfriend Jamar Webb said that if he went to prison, she would too. Houk and Webb are awaiting extradition to Nevada.

FALLON, Nev. (AP) — Three adults, including a police officer, were killed and four children were injured in a rollover crash near Fallon over the weekend. Authorities identified the victims as 42-year-old South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Mark Hounsell, his 34-year-old wife, Jeanne Hounsell of Minden, and 33-year-old Laura Fisher of Washington, Illinois. The four children are expected to recover.
