LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a woman shot and killed by SWAT officers fired at least once at officers moving toward a stolen car she refused to get out of outside a strip mall. A police statement said no officers were wounded in the exchange of gunfire yesterday in a shopping center several miles west of downtown.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Daily fantasy sports websites including DraftKings and FanDuel have been ordered to shut down in Nevada after regulators said they can't operate without a gambling license. The companies, which have flooded TVs and computers with ads promising big payouts to winners, have come under increased scrutiny by regulators after it was revealed employees often played on competing sites. That raised questions about possible insider information being used to win.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trial has been postponed to Feb. 8 for entertainer Flavor Flav on misdemeanor DUI, speeding and cocaine charges stemming from a vehicle stop last May in Las Vegas. Prosecutors and defense attorneys said the new date allows time to try to resolve the case against the 56-year-old rapper and reality TV star. The Nevada Highway Patrol says he was clocked going 87 mph in a 65 mph zone.
NEW YORK (AP) — The Weeknd and the duo behind "Uptown Funk," Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, are tied for five nominations each at the Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas on Nov. 6. All three share nominations for Video of the Year, Song of the Year and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award. The show will air on Centric and BET on Nov. 29.
