BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) — Police say one man is dead and another has been arrested after a deadly fight outside a home in Bountiful. KSL-TV reports that police arrested a 35-year-old man yesterday after they found another man with severe head injuries. They are investigating him for a murder charge. The man who died was visiting from California and his ex-wife and four children were living with the other man.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State attorneys will try to convince a judge today that contract laws allow Utah to cut off federal funding to the local arm of Planned Parenthood. A judge has ruled that the money should temporarily keep going to Planned Parenthood, but that order expires today.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Tribal leaders are outlining a proposal today to designate a section of southeastern Utah as a national monument. American Indian and conservation groups are seeking to protect a 1.9 million-acre area. They say it's threatened by looting of cultural objects, off-road vehicle use and destruction of gravesites. Republicans in Utah's congressional delegation oppose the use of the Antiquities Act.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A sexual harassment lawsuit filed against the Salt Lake City Police Department has been settled, months after the police chief's forced resignation over his handling of the complaints. A lawyer for the three female officers who sued over the alleged harassment by a deputy chief said yesterday that the women will each receive $85,000.
