LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — Bond has been set at $750,000 for an Arizona man arrested in the 23-year-old slaying of a rival furniture salesman in Ohio.
Warren County Common Pleas Judge Donald Oda (OH'-duh) ordered Wednesday that 67-year-old Sam Perone (pur-OHN'-ee) surrender his passport and be monitored electronically, among other conditions, if he posts bond.
Warren County authorities announced last week that Perone was arrested on a murder indictment in the shooting death of Richard Woods, a 41-year-old Columbus-area furniture salesman last seen alive Oct. 8, 1992.
Authorities didn't discuss a motive in the case but said Woods' last business stop was Perone's Lebanon (lehb-uh-NUHN') furniture store and they were competitors.
Perone's attorney says his client didn't kill Woods. Perone waived extradition after his arrest at his home in Phoenix.
