COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A sheriff in northern Idaho says a hunter has died after accidentally shooting himself in the chest.

The Spokesman-Review (http://bit.ly/1K79s85 ) reports that 60-year-old Stephen Davis from Florida died Monday evening in Murray, Idaho.

Shoshone County Sheriff Mitch Alexander says Davis had finished hunting for the day and went to take his shoes off while wearing a .44 magnum revolver in a shoulder holster.

Alexander says Davis' friends and family heard a shot from the back of the house and found both him and the revolver on the ground. Davis died shortly afterward.
