ROOSEVELT, Utah (AP) — Police say a shirtless Vernal man broke into a golf club window and drank Gatorade, forced his way into a home and claimed to be a police officer, then went to a nearby house to ask for help.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1Lfyumg ) that the 24-year-old man is facing felony charges for a string of bizarre Sunday night crimes. Court records say he told police he had been abducted and held hostage in a basement, but that didn't fit with what friends and family said.
The charges say the man pointed a handgun at a woman in a Roosevelt home and said he was an officer "checking for intruders," but did not have a gun when arrested.
Roosevelt Police Chief Rick Harrison says the man might have been intoxicated.
