CHELSEA, Vt. (AP) — An administrative assistant to the Vermont Education Secretary and the state Board of Education has pleaded not guilty to aggravated sexual assault on a minor.

Investigators say 42-year-old Perry Thompson, of Berlin, repeatedly sexually assaulted a teenage boy for more than three years. They say he began assaulting the boy in 2012 when he was 13. The boy, now 16, says he had more than 100 sexual encounters with Thompson that took place at his grandparents' Orange house and at Thompson's Barre residence.

He pleaded not guilty on Monday in Chelsea Superior Court. He is on administrative leave.

The Agency of Education said in a statement they are "shocked and disturbed by the allegations."

Thompson is due back in court in December. He was released on bail.
