LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police in Las Vegas are looking for a driver who allegedly hit a 5-year-old girl and apologized before fleeing the scene. KTNV-TV reports that the incident happened Friday around 3:30 p.m. as the child was walking with a 14-year-old boy near Gentle Rain Way and Waterview Drive. Investigators say the driver struck the girl but did not say if she was in a crosswalk. But the driver allegedly slowed down and said "I'm sorry" before driving off. The girl is hospitalized with a substantial leg injury.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church has chosen three new members for the top governing body that sets policy and runs the faith's business operations. Church leader Henry B. Eyring, a member of the quorum, announced the selections at the church conference in Salt Lake City. The new members of the religion's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are: Gary E. Stevenson, Ronald A. Rasband and Dale G. Renlund. All three are from Utah.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a man riding a motor scooter has died after being rear-ended by a vehicle in Las Vegas. Police say the collision happened around 12:45 a.m. Saturday on North Tenaya Way near West Centennial Parkway. According to witnesses and evidence at the scene, the scooter was crossing from the right side of the road toward the left and was in the path of a Jeep Cherokee.

STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — A multimillion-dollar resort will put roots down on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe's south shore. The layout for the hotel with no gambling facilities includes a spa, restaurant and a small public beach bordering the lake-front golf course that has hosted the televised American Century Celebrity Championship.
