CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — One of two southwest Idaho men convicted of killing a man because he showed disrespect and couldn't provide prescription drugs has been sentenced to life in prison.
Angelo Cervantes will be eligible for parole after 15 years in prison. The 21-year-old was sentenced Friday in 3rd District Court after earlier pleading guilty to murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault charges.
Court documents say Cervantes and Raul Herrera beat and tied up 46-year-old Jeffrey Dyer of Nampa last November. An autopsy showed he died of blunt force trauma.
Police say Cervantes and Herrera believed Dyer was dead when they put him in the trunk of his Cadillac and took it to a parking lot in Ontario, Oregon.
The vehicle with Dyer's body was found Nov. 9.
Herrera's sentencing will be rescheduled because his attorney resigned from the state bar association.
