MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Ball State University is planning a $5 million project to renovate and expand its main campus auditorium.
The expansion will add about 12,000 square feet to the front of Emens Auditorium, which will include enlarging the lobby area and providing new restrooms, hospitality rooms and office space.
The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1KABTf3 ) the university's Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to approve the project, which is being paid for with $1.5 million from a fundraising campaign and $3.5 million in university construction funds.
Officials say the 3,300-seat auditorium hasn't undergone a major renovation since it opened in 1964. Construction is expected to start next summer and take a year to complete.
