SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a 77-year-old Logan man died while kayaking in Cutler Reservoir in a possible drowning accident.

The Cache County Sheriff's Office says the man was kayaking with his wife just outside Newton on Sunday morning. Police say both kayaks capsized and neither person was wearing a life jacket.

Sheriff's Lt. Mike Peterson says they had paddled about a mile north of the boat dock and that the wife was securing her boat while the man swam to shore.

He says the woman noticed after a few minutes that her husband had stopped talking and found him face down in the water.

The man's body was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office to determine an exact cause of death.

Police have not identified the people involved.
