TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Police in south-central Idaho say a Twin Falls man terrorized a woman for months by poisoning her dogs, threatening to rape her and sending hundreds of text messages from blocked numbers.
Christopher Delfeido Gonzales was arraigned Wednesday on a first-degree stalking charge, The Times-News reported (http://bit.ly/1Okfc5I ).
According to court documents, the woman didn't know who was harassing her until she noticed that the messages stopped while Gonzales was around.
Gonzales would anonymously scare the woman, then would meet up with her to console her.
Documents report that the woman met Gonzales through a dating website in May. The flood of text messages started after she denied his romantic interest and said she wanted to be just friends.
After meeting Gonzales, the woman then arranged to meet a man named Charles Wilson at a bar through the same website, but he never showed up, the documents state. While she waited at the bar, the woman's phone received 28 messages threatening rape and questioning her intelligence.
The woman would go on to receive 45 phone calls from "Charles" between June 14 and July 31. She received 85 phone calls, some including threatening messages in her voicemails, between Aug. 1 and Aug. 8.
Police arrested Gonzales — who had long been suspected — after seeing video of him purchasing dog bowls and antifreeze. The woman had previously reported finding antifreeze in her dogs' bowls.
"Did your dogs enjoy the treat I left them," an unknown number texted her July 31, court documents said. When she asked what the man was talking about, he replied, "Oh, so they're not sick yet?" and "You didn't find the bowls?"
During that exchange, the woman received 16 messages from a blocked number in one hour.
