CLIFTON, Texas (AP) — Police have charged a Texas man's widow and stepdaughter with murder in his 2011 death, which came four years after he was shot.
Clifton Police Chief Trace Hendricks said Friday that Sharon Allman, of Waco, and her daughter Misty Lynn Glenn, of Hillsboro, are accused of conspiring to kill John Wesley Frizzell. Both were arrested Tuesday and freed on $10,000 bonds. It's not clear whether they have attorneys who can comment on the allegations; none were listed in jail records.
Police responding to a report of domestic violence in March 2007 at Frizell's home found Frizzell shot in the head and Glenn's younger sister apparently unconscious. Investigators at the time believed Frizzell had attempted suicide.
Hendricks said new evidence emerged last month, though he declined to provide details. Court documents allege Allman and Glenn conspired to kill Frizzell because he abused the family. Documents show that both have admitted the allegations, that Misty Glenn shot Frizzell and told her younger sister to pretend to be injured and unconscious when police and paramedics arrived.
"Misty stated she and her mother discussed ways of ending the abusive life they were being subjected to. Misty stated she and her mother, Sharon Allman, planned to shoot and kill John Wesley Frizzell in order to end the abuse," according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Frizzell required nursing-home care after the shooting. He died in January 2011.
Clifton is a town of about 3,400 residents about 70 miles south of Fort Worth.
