LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in Las Vegas have identified a 34-year-old German killed in a fiery tour bus crash that police and prosecutors say was caused by a drunk driver. The Clark County coroner says Rolf Kloeppel of Meckenbeuren, Germany, died in the Sept. 5 wreck at a downtown intersection. The tour bus driver was also killed. The man suspected of causing the crash has a court appearance scheduled for Monday.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal appeals court rejected an environmental advocacy group's claim that the federal government failed to properly protect an endangered fish found only in Nevada's Moapa Valley Wildlife Refuge. The court said there was no evidence the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service improperly decided in 2006 that groundwater pumping in the Coyote Spring Valley wouldn't hurt the imperiled Moapa dace.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a 55-year-old man who jumped to death from a soaring Las Vegas freeway overpass was about to face murder charges in the beating and strangulation of his wife last April. The Clark County coroner today identified the dead man as Hannabal E. Stewart. His death was ruled a suicide.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The members of Montreux Golf & Country Club in Reno have voted to keep the PGA Tour's Barracuda Championship at the Jack Nicklaus-designed course on the edge of the Sierra through 2019. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the members approved the extension Tuesday with 66 percent of the vote.
