HILDALE, Utah (AP) — Authorities are warning users to boil drinking water in the small polygamous towns on the Utah-Arizona border devastated by a flash flood that killed more than a dozen people.
The local water department issued the voluntary boil advisory after the Monday flood swept through the sister cities of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Arizona.
Washington County Emergency Services said no contamination has been identified, pending water sample test results, but that boiling water for one minute would guarantee it's safe enough to drink.
The county said repairs are being made to Maxwell Park's spring after it was damaged by the storm.
The flood also hit Zion National Park and the death toll from both incidents as of Wednesday evening was 18. Rescuers are still searching for two people.
