KETTERING, Ohio (AP) — Confederate flags will no longer be allowed on vehicles at a southwestern Ohio high school where school officials say some students have been flying them.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1KjYXys ) reports the new policy resulted Monday from an agreement between the Kettering City Schools superintendent and the president of the NAACP's Dayton branch. The superintendent says five vehicles flew the flag at Kettering Fairmont High School in recent weeks.
A compromise last month allowed students to fly the flag or wear it on clothing before or after school hours. But a student's parent filed a complaint with the NAACP.
The flag's appropriateness has been debated nationally since nine people were fatally shot at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina. The suspect was seen posing with the flag.
