BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — German police say a total of 12,200 migrants came to Munich on Saturday and the flow is continuing into the city, the main point of entry to Germany. Federal police spokesman Simon Hegewald says more than 700 people fleeing their homelands have arrived at the city's main station today. Police didn't immediately have an estimate of how many more might land during the day.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Pope Francis is urging Catholics to open their hearts and parishes to refugees, but many in Poland fear that Muslim arrivals will threaten their jobs and security. Rallies were held Saturday in several Polish cities. Thousands marched in downtown Warsaw against hosting asylum seekers. A few hundred others held a "Refugees, Welcome" rally at another location in the city

COBB, Calif. (AP) — An explosive wildfire in California has sent four firefighters to the hospital with second-degree burns. The fire erupted in Lake County, about 100 miles north of San Francisco, Saturday afternoon. The state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection says it rapidly chewed through brush and trees parched from several years of drought.

PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities in Arizona are still investigating a string of Phoenix freeway shootings that have left the city on edge for two weeks. Police say a man they've detained is a person of interest but isn't the prime suspect and they're pressing ahead with leads in a case. The 19-year-old man has been booked into jail on an unrelated marijuana possession charge.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is inviting the New York City police officer injured in his motorcade to visit with him in Washington as soon as he recovers. The motorcycle officer was hurt Friday while escorting Biden's motorcade to the airport. Biden spoke to the officer by phone Saturday and offered him his best wishes for a full recovery and thanked him for his service.
