SAN ANDREAS, Calif. (AP) — State fire officials say the Northern California town of San Andreas is no longer under an evacuation order but its 2,700 residents have been told to be prepared to leave as a big and fast-growing wildfire burns nearby. The blaze, some 60 miles southeast of Sacramento, has exploded in size to nearly 80 square miles.
ROCKPORT, Mass. (AP) — Officials say the body of a woman who fell off a cruise ship has been pulled from waters off the Massachusetts coast. The Coast Guard says it received a distress call around 7 p.m. Friday that a woman on the Seabourn Quest had fallen overboard while the cruise ship was about 10 miles off Cape Ann. The woman's body was recovered around 8:30 p.m.
BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombian aviation officials say a small plane assigned to the crew of a movie starring Tom Cruise has crashed, killing two people aboard and injuring a third. They say Cruise wasn't on the plane but two American pilots and a Colombian were. Cruise is in Colombia to film "Mena" about a pilot who worked for the late cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar.
PHOENIX (AP) — The director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety says he believes there are multiple shooters in the Phoenix freeway shootings. Frank Milstead tells The Arizona Republic that "it does not appear to be the same guy." He says it appears some of the shootings apparently stem from road rage and some of the shootings involve bullets while others involve projectiles.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Republican presidential field is shrinking. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is dropping out of the race. He becomes the first major candidate of the 2016 campaign to give up. Perry, whose campaign was running out of money as he struggled near the bottom of the pack, told a group of conservative activists in St. Louis on Friday night that he was suspending his campaign.
