NEW YORK (AP) — The mournful sound of "taps" has marked the conclusion of the World Trade Center ceremony marking the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. There was a smattering of applause when the final victim's name was read at ground zero. In Pennsylvania, hundreds gathered to honor the 33 passengers and seven crew members who died when hijacked United Flight 93 was brought down in Shanksville. Solemn ceremonies were also held at the White House and the Pentagon.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. (AP) — Law enforcement authorities say a 20-year-old Florida man tried to help plan an attack on a 9/11 memorial in Missouri by providing details on how to build a bomb with a pressure cooker and rat poison. A criminal complaint says Joshua Goldberg began communicating online with an FBI informant in July and instructed the agent to place the bomb at a memorial in Kansas City. He's charged with distributing information relating to explosives, destructive devices and weapons of mass destruction.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A major new study finds that treating high blood pressure more aggressively than usual cuts the risk of heart disease and death in people over age 50. The National Institutes of Health says it's stopping the research about a year early because preliminary results showed such strong benefits of aggressive treatment. Researchers will continue to track the participants to see if kidney disease, cognitive function and dementia also were affected by more aggressive care.

NEW YORK (AP) — A spokesman for Donald Trump says the Republican presidential candidate has purchased NBC's half of the Miss Universe Organization and settled all lawsuits against the media company. Trump gets full ownership of the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants and completes a split from NBC that began in June. The network severed ties with Trump because of comments he made about Mexican immigrants.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a couple looking for a spot to take a photo in a Utah canyon found an injured woman who'd been trapped inside her wrecked vehicle for two days. Authorities tell the Daily Herald newspaper in Provo that the couple heard faint calls for help yesterday and discovered the 29-year-old woman. She'd been trapped since crashing through a guardrail Tuesday and plummeting several hundred feet down a mountainside. She's expected to recover from her injuries.
