CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A Logan County Spanish teacher has been named West Virginia Teacher of the Year.

The Department of Education says Andrea Santos received the award on Wednesday night during a ceremony in Charleston. County teachers of the year also were recognized.

Santos will receive an educational technology package valued at nearly $10,000, use of a Toyota car for a year and cash awards from Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Horace Mann Insurance.

Santos teaches Spanish in grades nine through 12 at Logan County High School.
