WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a 3-year-old girl was killed in a West Valley City collision that also left a toddler critically injured.
West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku says the young girl, Paisley Hayden, was ejected from an SUV Thursday after the vehicle was struck by a Nissan while making a turn.
Vainuku says a 2-year-old boy was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries to his leg.
Police say eight children from multiple families had been in the SUV and no one was wearing a seat belt.
Vainuku says the driver of the SUV and some of the other children were treated for minor cuts at the scene. The man driving the Nissan suffered a broken arm.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the crash.
