LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada jury says a former Las Vegas firefighter is guilty of conspiring with a homeless ex-convict to murder his estranged wife. George Tiaffay (TEE'-uh-fay) showed no reaction as the verdict was read this afternoon in Clark County District Court. The case was based largely on the testimony of the admitted killer, Noel Stevens.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A California fugitive who was shot in the face by a Sparks police officer remains in critical but stable condition. Reno police say 31-year-old Lionel Irving of Oakland was shot as a U.S. Marshals' Fugitive Task Force, including the Sparks officers, was serving an arrest warrant at a Reno apartment building.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal appeals court has reinstated a lawsuit alleging Nevada public assistance offices weren't doing enough to help clients register to vote. Three civil rights groups sued state officials in 2012, saying Nevada public assistance offices weren't complying with a federal law that aimed at increasing voter registration among the poor.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Nevada beauty queen has again been arrested for drug possession. The Las Vegas Sun reports that 31-year-old Katherine Rees and her boyfriend were arrested after officers smelled marijuana during a traffic stop. The former Miss Nevada USA lost her title in 2006 after racy photos surfaced online. She was also arrested on drug charges in July.
