COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina police officer has been fired after officials say he was involved in an off-duty shooting incident.
Columbia police Chief Skip Holbrook said in a statement that 46-year-old Officer Tracy Hudson was fired Tuesday after the shooting incident at a restaurant and nightclub.
Holbrook says Hudson was fired because of neglect of duty, violating policies and procedures, improper conduct, misuse of handling a weapon, and carrying a handgun while off-duty. He had been with the department since 2008.
Officials say both men involved in the fight were struck by fire from the gun.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says Hudson is charged with aggravated assault and battery and pointing a gun.
It was not clear whether Hudson had a lawyer who could be contacted for comment on the case.
