ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio University student is suing a sorority at the Athens school for an injury she suffered at the chapter house in 2014.
The Athens Messenger reports (http://bit.ly/1JG14wj ) the suit, filed in Athens County Common Pleas Court, asserts that an automatic door at the Chi Omega sorority house on South College Street was responsible for severing Delaney Stengel's Achilles tendon.
The lawsuit states the front door automatically closed on Stengel while she was using her leg to hold it open in order to retrieve a piece of luggage inside.
Chi Omega and the Tau Alpha chapter at Ohio University were named as defendants.
The Pennsylvania resident says she accumulated substantial medical bills and experienced pain and suffering as a result of the incident.
The sorority hasn't commented on the suit.
