HERRIMAN, Utah (AP) — Police say a Herriman man died Saturday evening after being beaten by his girlfriend's brother.
KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1F9feFj ) that Unified police detective Jared Richardson says 25-year-old Blake Burningham and his girlfriend had a verbal fight that escalated into a physical assault.
According to a Salt Lake County Jail report, the woman's brother, 24-year-old Cole Pedersen, said he wanted to talk to Burningham but the two ended up arguing and pushing each other.
The report says Cole punched Burningham and admits the man never punched back. Police say Burningham's brother pulled Pedersen away from the unconscious man.
Richardson says doctors will help detectives determine the extent of the injuries caused by the fight.
Police were investigating Pedersen for aggravated assault but say they are looking at new charges following Burningham's death.
