SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The world's largest outdoor retail show is staying in Salt Lake City despite concerns about a shortage of lodging and meeting space. The Outdoor Retailer Show has renewed its contract for two more years through 2018. This summer's expo drew about 27,000 people. Salt Lake County has been trying to find a hotel company to build a new convention center hotel.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Rescue crews are searching for a 10-year-old boy who went missing Sunday after he left a remote mountain lake while hiking with his family in eastern Utah. Authorities say rescuers are searching for any sign of motion in the rocky terrain where Malachi Bradley disappeared. Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton says an airplane and a helicopter have joined about 80 searchers on the ground.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Voters in some Utah County cities may have to vote twice this November. The cities of Lehi, Alpine, Vineyard, Orem and Cedar Hills are conducting their 2015 municipal elections entirely by mail with the hope that it boosts voter participation. But the county wants a vote on a proposed county-wide tax increase on a separate ballot.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah board of pardons is denying parole to a man convicted of a killing his girlfriend and wounding her roommate nearly two decades ago. The Deseret News reports that the board's decision today means Michael Patterson won't be released until August 2017.
