DOSWELL, Va. (AP) — Kings Dominion theme park says it plans to open a new thrill ride that it calls Delirium and describes as a swinging pendulum in the spring of 2016.
Kings Dominion made the announcement Thursday.
The park says 40 riders will be strapped in seats facing outward on a giant ring and will soar to a height of 115 feet at a maximum arc of 120 degrees. The riders will swing back and forth, feet dangling, as the ring rotates.
Delirium will replace the Shockwave, which made its final run Aug. 9. The Shockwave was the first stand-up roller coaster on the East Coast.
The park says Delirium will be located in its Candy Apple Grove section.
