CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — New results show that Wyoming students scored about the same as they did last year on the ACT college entrance exam.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1hLEAUs ) that results released Tuesday show negligible decreases in math, English, reading and science, with scores dropping fractions of a percent.

Of 5,818 juniors tested, the state's average score was 19.8 out of 36 points, compared to 19.9 last year.

Despite only insignificant decreases in score, the state's average 11th-grade student would not meet the University of Wyoming's minimum ACT admission requirement score of 21.

Wyoming is one of a few states that require all its high school juniors to take the ACT. The state uses the scores to measure student progress.
