MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A 58-year-old American and his Filipino-American wife have been killed and their decomposing bodies were found in a well in the central Philippines in a case suspected to be linked to robbery, police said Monday.

Senior Inspector Lawrence Gerald Bathan said the body of Kevin Fleischauer was retrieved on Sunday and that of his 60-year-old wife Lolly Mangilaya Fleischauer the next day in the well near their home in Murcia town in Negros Occidental province.

Police responded late Sunday to a report of robbery in their home, and found a group of church members already looking for the couple. The church members discovered the man's body that night, Bathan said.

Investigators said some valuable items belonging to the couple were missing. The main door of the house was damaged and their bedroom door opened.

They said the Fleischauers had not been seen for about two weeks. Their friends from church went to look for them and found their house in disarray and the couple missing.

Fleischauer's hometown in the U.S. was not immediately available.
