BAGHDAD (AP) — The Islamic State group is claiming responsibility for a car bombing that Iraqi police say killed 13 people and injured 52 in eastern Baghdad's Sadr City neighborhood Saturday.
The blast struck a popular car dealership that has been targeted multiple times in the past. In a communique distributed through affiliated Twitter accounts, IS says the target was a large gathering of the Iraqi army, federal police and government-backed Popular Mobilization Forces.
A market bombing in Sadr City on Thursday killed at least 67 people and wounded more than 100. The Islamic State group also said it was responsible for that bombing.
Elsewhere in and around Iraq's capital Saturday, a series of bombings killed at least nine other people and wounded 33.
